Let’s talk houseplants! More specifically, houseplant Feng Shui. What if I told you that the type of house plant and position it’s in in your home could have either a positive or negative impact on your finances, peace, relationships, and more? Feng Shui means “the way of wind and water,” and is the art of arranging a space to create harmony and balance. Who doesn’t want that? Here is what your
houseplant is giving in Feng Shui energy:
Finances and Prosperity
– Jade Plants (Crassula ovata), these plants are steady growers with coin like
leaves which represent steady accumulation. They do require a decent amount of
light to flourish the way you want them to.
– Chinese Money Plant (Pilea Peperomioides) – this plant also has shiny coin like
leaves that attract prosperity and as a bonus is low-maintenance. Win-win!
– Swiss Cheese Plant (Monstera adansonii) – This plant represents abundance
and growth along with positive energy. Be careful not to over water, this will lead
to yellow leaves which will turn the Feng Shui energy against you.
Placing your healthy houseplant in the Southeast corner of any room, home, or even
your garden while adding wood accessories will optimize your Feng shui energy.
Protection –
– Jade Plants (Crassula ovata), because of their coin like leaves, are considered
lucky. As if you needed another reason to come in and grab a Jade, maybe even
two.
– Snake Plant (Dracaena trifasciata) – with Leaves that look like swords and
represent preservation and strength. Watering this plant every two weeks and
wiping its leaves clean will keep this plant healthy and fierce.
Positive Energy
– Aloe Vera (Aloe barbadensis miller) – great for fighting off bad energy by
reducing toxic chemicals and clearing your air. Aloe is also just great if you want
a natural air purifier in your home. Be sure to place your Aloe in an area with
plenty of sunlight and to walk that delicate line of not too much water, and not too
little.
– Peace Lily (Spathiphyllum)– Are thought to manifest peace. Place in indirect
sunlight and keep soil slightly moist to the touch.
Love/Relationships
– Jasmine (Jasminum officinale) – with its fragrant flowers, this plant is associated
with love and beauty. Place in direct sunlight for no more than six hours a day.
– Philodendron – this plant is said to cultivate relationships with the help of its heart
shaped leaves. These plants adapt well to various lighting.
