Growing a cool season vegetable garden in the Tri Lakes area can be extremely successful and rewarding. While our cooler temperatures and frequent freezes in the spring can be discouraging, many cool season vegetables and herbs will grow and even produce before the last spring frost has passed.
Cool season vegetables prefer cool growing temperatures which is why mountain gardens often do even better with them than lower elevations. They can be replanted mid-summer for a second crop in the fall.
