Hanging baskets come in a variety of fun colors and combinations. What’s even better is that they are an instant remedy for decorating any porch or patio.
Location
When you go to pick out your basket, make sure you know where you want to put it.
- Ask yourself, is it sunny, or shady?
- How many hours of sun does it get?
- Does it have protection from the wind?
- Don’t be tempted to try and make a full sun basket work in a full shade spot.
- Be sure to ask us what would work best in your conditions.
Water and Fertilize
But what about when those flowers start to fade, and your investment is looking less than radiant long before the summer’s end? The two most important keys to keeping your hanging basket happy, lush, and blooming, are 1) water and 2) fertilizer.
Because of the small container your flowers are in, they need a steady supply of water and nutrients.
- Water your basket every day during the heat of summer.
- Fertilize once a week.
Deadhead
Also, set aside a little time every week or two to deadhead faded flowers, which will encourage more blooms.
