Benefits of Snow in Your Garden
Have you heard of “poor man’s fertilizer”? What if I told you, it’s completely free AND great for the environment? Well, let us put you on to SNOW. Did you know that when snow falls, nitrogen attaches to each beautiful snowflake creating a wonderfully perfect (and cheap) fertilizer for our plants? In this economy, we will take it!
Snow also works as a great insulator amid winter, especially with our Colorado weather and our random warm days throwing both of us, and the plants off. Snow helps balance temperatures underground to protect our bulbs and roots from getting damaged.
And let’s not forget about our seeds and how snow helps them germinate by providing a natural and humid cooling process.
Isn’t Mother Nature amazing? Although we have had some beautiful weather, let’s prepare ourselves and our garden for the possibility of more snow, and let’s rejoice because we are so fortunate.
